"The known galaxy of Star Wars: The Old Republic is more than 100,000 light-years or 37,000 parsecs in diameter and consists of billions of star systems. Among these star systems, current estimates suggest there are more than one million inhabited worlds — many of them still unknown. At the current time, several worlds have been singled out for further study. It is on these worlds that analysts believe the future of the galaxy will be decided. Profiles of these worlds are available here."

Coreward Worlds[edit | edit source]

The Core Worlds (also known as the Galactic Core and, during the Imperial era, the Imperial Core) were some of the most prestigious, well-developed, well-known, and heavily populated planets in the galaxy. In astrophysical terms, the Core denoted the central area of the galaxy, and in broad terms this was true enough, but the precise usage of the term was sometimes more complex.

The major Rimward hyperlanes radiated outwards around little more than half the galactic disk, and the Core Worlds occupied a C-shaped region of space around the Deep Core, the heart of the astrophysical core, which was considered as a separate outlier area, facing in the opposite direction, and extending outwards towards the Unknown Regions.

Humans were believed to have come from one of the core worlds. It was most widely speculated that Coruscant was the birthplace of humanity, although there was little to no archeological evidence to support that theory. Before the invention of the hyperdrive, galactic civilization was limited to only the Core Worlds. Densely populated and heavily industrialized, the Core Worlds were a vital factor in any campaign to rule the galaxy.

Distant Outer Rim[edit | edit source]

The Outer Rim is a part of the galaxy located beyond the Mid Rim.

Hutt Space[edit | edit source]

A region of the galaxy controlled by the Hutts. After the environmental destruction of their home planet of Varl, the Hutts took over the planet of Evocar, making it the capital world of Hutt Space and renaming it Nal Hutta. Other planets included among the many worlds in Hutt Space are Quesh, Voss, and the moon called Nar Shaddaa.

Seat of the Empire[edit | edit source]

The Seat of the Empire is a part of the galaxy that includes the capital and birthplace of the Sith Empire. In this section of the galaxy can be found planets, ships, and several space combat missions.

Unknown Regions[edit | edit source]

The Unknown Regions is a part of the galaxy that is largely uncharted. It is located near the Seat of the Empire. In this section of the galaxy can be found planets, moons, ships, and several space combat missions.

Wild Space[edit | edit source]

Wild Space separated the known galaxy and scattered parts of the Outer Rim from the Unknown Regions.

Though somewhat explored, Wild Space still remains mostly uncharted and unexplored.
