Familiar with bots?

Are you familiar with the use of bots? I've noticed we're getting a lot of false files with the ongoing icon upload, and am wondering how we're going to go about removing them from the project. A bot may be able to do the job, as the files all start with the file name "File:. ", but I'm not familiar with bot use. -- Heaven's Agent 16:43, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

I am somewhat familiar with the use of bots. I'll take a look once the upload is finished and see what needs to be done. We should be able to fix it somewhat easily and also do some basic categorization with a bot. --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 17:31, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
All of the files I checked are duplicates of existing files, hence the funky rename. So it looks like we'll just need to delete them. I registered a bot account and I'm just waiting for Wynthyst to tag it appropriately. --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 00:45, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Awesome; I'm so glad we won't have to go through and remove them by hand. Organizing the legitimate icons is going to be difficult enough. Though the baic categorization you mention should help with that a lot. -- Heaven's Agent 02:43, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
The bot is running and deleting all the duplicate files. I also did a prelim categorization of the codex images. They'll have to be adjusted to the proper sub-categories and have the old files deleted. --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 16:01, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Wonderful; thank you. Alibot is my hero. -- Heaven's Agent 18:23, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
=) The bot definitely helps. If there's anything you need done on a large scale, drop me a note on my talk page here or on my bot's talk page. --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 18:51, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Break out the mower?

Which version of image do you prefer for armor set screenshots: with grass enabled (File:Customization, Trooper -- RD-15B Commando Set.png) or without it (File:Customization, Trooper -- RD-15B Commando Set 002.png)?

There are definite strengths for each. The grass makes the image look more natural; with grass disabled the image looks poorly staged, but you have a clear view of the leg and feet armor. That said, the leg and feet armor screens will have the grass disabled anyway (File:Customization, Trooper -- RD-15B Commando Greaves.png), so perhaps we don't need to mow the lawn for the general set screen? What do you think? -- Heaven's Agent 19:54, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

For the whole set version, I like the grass turned on to give it a more natural environment look. When it's the legs/feet, it's good with the grass off. Looking good, btw! --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 20:19, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. I'd like to polish our item modification and customization articles, get some examples up, and approach TOR Fashion with a partnership proposal. We could be rival projects or we could work together, and I think the latter option is best for everyone. Their project layout and style lacks the uniformity and structure for comparisons, but their blog-like presentation is ideal for social commentary and favorites ranking. The social-side of things isn't our forte, but we can provide the community with a more formalized and informational presentation of content. In all, I think we have a lot to offer one another. -- Heaven's Agent 20:39, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Hello

Thanks for the warm welcome! Look forward to contributing to the wiki as I go along my travels. I've just come back from a 3 month break from swtor / gaming, so i'm quite keen at the moment! -- Sanborn 14:57, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Category

Hi, I think there is a problem in Category:Lore codex entries. Under letter C we have a few awkward things like: Athiss, Droid Rights, Gree Computer and Lore. Do you know how it can be fixed? Jarvil 20:54, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

That's an easy fix. For each of those articles, you need to adjust the category sorting. So in the codex article where you have the categories, you'll need to add the sort at the end. For example, on the Athiss article where it says [[Category:Lore codex entries]] at the bottom, you'll want to add |Athiss to the end so it looks like this [[Category:Lore codex entries|Athiss]]. You'll have to do that for each category or you can add a defaultsort that does all the work for you in one line. Defaultsorts look like this: {{DEFAULTSORT:Athiss}} and it's typically listed before the categories. See Codex/Killik to see it in use.--Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 21:47, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
