Familiar with bots?[]

Are you familiar with the use of bots? I've noticed we're getting a lot of false files with the ongoing icon upload, and am wondering how we're going to go about removing them from the project. A bot may be able to do the job, as the files all start with the file name "File:. ", but I'm not familiar with bot use. -- Heaven's Agent 16:43, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

I am somewhat familiar with the use of bots. I'll take a look once the upload is finished and see what needs to be done. We should be able to fix it somewhat easily and also do some basic categorization with a bot. --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 17:31, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
All of the files I checked are duplicates of existing files, hence the funky rename. So it looks like we'll just need to delete them. I registered a bot account and I'm just waiting for Wynthyst to tag it appropriately. --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 00:45, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Awesome; I'm so glad we won't have to go through and remove them by hand. Organizing the legitimate icons is going to be difficult enough. Though the baic categorization you mention should help with that a lot. -- Heaven's Agent 02:43, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
The bot is running and deleting all the duplicate files. I also did a prelim categorization of the codex images. They'll have to be adjusted to the proper sub-categories and have the old files deleted. --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 16:01, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Wonderful; thank you. Alibot is my hero. -- Heaven's Agent 18:23, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
=) The bot definitely helps. If there's anything you need done on a large scale, drop me a note on my talk page here or on my bot's talk page. --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 18:51, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Break out the mower?[]

Which version of image do you prefer for armor set screenshots: with grass enabled (File:Customization, Trooper -- RD-15B Commando Set.png) or without it (File:Customization, Trooper -- RD-15B Commando Set 002.png)?

There are definite strengths for each. The grass makes the image look more natural; with grass disabled the image looks poorly staged, but you have a clear view of the leg and feet armor. That said, the leg and feet armor screens will have the grass disabled anyway (File:Customization, Trooper -- RD-15B Commando Greaves.png), so perhaps we don't need to mow the lawn for the general set screen? What do you think? -- Heaven's Agent 19:54, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

For the whole set version, I like the grass turned on to give it a more natural environment look. When it's the legs/feet, it's good with the grass off. Looking good, btw! --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 20:19, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. I'd like to polish our item modification and customization articles, get some examples up, and approach TOR Fashion with a partnership proposal. We could be rival projects or we could work together, and I think the latter option is best for everyone. Their project layout and style lacks the uniformity and structure for comparisons, but their blog-like presentation is ideal for social commentary and favorites ranking. The social-side of things isn't our forte, but we can provide the community with a more formalized and informational presentation of content. In all, I think we have a lot to offer one another. -- Heaven's Agent 20:39, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Hello[]

Thanks for the warm welcome! Look forward to contributing to the wiki as I go along my travels. I've just come back from a 3 month break from swtor / gaming, so i'm quite keen at the moment! -- Sanborn 14:57, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Category[]

Hi, I think there is a problem in Category:Lore codex entries. Under letter C we have a few awkward things like: Athiss, Droid Rights, Gree Computer and Lore. Do you know how it can be fixed? Jarvil 20:54, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

That's an easy fix. For each of those articles, you need to adjust the category sorting. So in the codex article where you have the categories, you'll need to add the sort at the end. For example, on the Athiss article where it says [[Category:Lore codex entries]] at the bottom, you'll want to add |Athiss to the end so it looks like this [[Category:Lore codex entries|Athiss]]. You'll have to do that for each category or you can add a defaultsort that does all the work for you in one line. Defaultsorts look like this: {{DEFAULTSORT:Athiss}} and it's typically listed before the categories. See Codex/Killik to see it in use.--Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 21:47, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

Dialog pages[]

I just started on my first dialog page. I had to make some changes to the formatting from the ones you did; would you give it a look and tell me what you think, or fix anything that's screaming "NOOOOOO!" at you? Claim Your New Identity/Dialog Thanks! :) -- Completionist 20:15, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

It looks really good! The only thing I can think of is to maybe provide a location of where the cutscene takes place. Great job! --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 20:19, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
I just did my first dialog set with alignment gains (here), and I'm thinking it looks a little awkward. Any suggestions? (I swear, eventually I'll stop fussing and running to you over everything. XD Just have to get through the settling-in period.) -- Completionist 18:11, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
Maybe instead of adding the icon on a new line either put it at the beginning or end of the dialog choice. That could help it look a bit more streamlined. No worries about messaging me. I'm here to help. =) --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 18:16, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
That does look a lot better, thanks. Could get crowded once companions come along, but affection could go at the end with alignment staying at the beginning... Eh, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. :) -- Completionist 18:24, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

Recent changes page[]

Hey, are you having trouble accessing the "Recent Changes" page too? I know there's probably nothing you can do about it if you ARE having trouble as well, I just want to know if my computer or browser is being a jerk, or if it's the site. XD Completionist 12:52, 22 March 2013 (UTC)

Nope, it's working just fine for me. Try clearing your cache? --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 13:01, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
Yep, that worked. Weird, though. It was saying the Recent Changes page was using some compression that the browser didn't know how to deal with. It was bizarre. *pokes Firefox suspiciously* I think it does these things just to screw with my head.... Stupid computers. --Completionist 00:47, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

Kira Carsen gifts[]

Hi, you did notice that there's a difference if you have her romanced? If she's not, then both Luxury and Technology are only "love". I've now tested it twice. Supposedly Luxury will become "favorite" when romanced, but Technology will stay "love" (according to her personal page). Have you maybe only checked with Luxury and she's romanced in your case? 93.192.241.135 20:51, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

My apologies, I totally got gifts mixed up. She's not romanced on my character, so it'll be slightly different. Thanks for the investigating and updating the table! --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 15:07, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
I was also confused and uncertain after your re-edit. There is so much different info on the net, it's not funny. :D 93.192.241.135 20:01, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

Help With Tooltips[]

Hi there, I see you received some help with Tooltips from Wowpedia's Pcj and I was wondering if you could help me out as well. I'm part of an indie game studio at www.vatales.com and want to use some tooltips for our abilities and more. I have the same codes in my Common.js and Common.css as you have in addition to very similar template pages, but the darn tooltips don't seem to want to work. The popup occurs, but the tooltip only says "Error This target either has no tooltip or was not intended to have one." If you have some time to help me like Pcj helped you, please reach out to me at connect@vatales.com or reply here. Thanks a million! --Lucin (talk) 22:59, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Item Pages[]

Hey, thanks for cleaning up the Padawan Trousers page after I updated it. Sorry about the icon thing, I think I figured out how to keep the previous icon (assuming I don't create the page myself), but for ones when I do have to create it, how can I get the item icon to the wiki's standard? I can download the GIMP pretty easily and I've used it before (though I'm no pro; mostly used it to edit item and monster images for a Runescape fansite way back when).

Also, what was the final decision on items with prefixes (Adarian, Cerean, etc.)? I'm seeing a couple of different setups, and as I go through, I'd like to be able to get them all on the same format. TheCompletionist (talk) 20:53, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

No problem! For the icons, I extract the files from the game files using the EasyMYP program. Details are outlined here: http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?p=69545#p69545 If you don't want to go through all that, you can just use the .gif file that is already present and I can replace it with the correct file.
As for the items with prefixes, I'd suggest using the base name and adding a section for prefixes and stats like on this page: Frilled Leatheris Pants. Then you can redirect the full name article to the base name article. --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 13:56, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
So, at first I was thinking, "Oh, the EasyMYP looks pretty cool, but ehhhh, I'll do it later." Then I saw "The German, English and French archives contain all the translated texts (like dialogues, item descriptions, conversations) and all of the spoken dialogue." Yep, I am SO THERE. I think my brain just exploded in joy. --TheCompletionist (talk) 00:45, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
Well, I can't seem to get easyMYP to work for me, so I guess you're going to be stuck updating the icons on items. :/ Too bad, it would've been awesome to be able to see the conversation files. -- TheCompletionist (talk) 01:15, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
I'll play with it and see what I can come up with. --Icon class jediknight Alianin T C 01:29, 16 August 2013 (UTC)

Disciplines[]

Hi i've created Discipline and made a redirection form Skill tree to it. But thats not the reason i write. Can i make for every Discipline a Page which contains both sides? For example a Darkness/Kinetic Combat Page with Redirections form Darkness and Kinetic Combat to it? Because they are always exact the same with exception of the names. I would make a table on every discipline page, where both skills, rep and imp, are listed vis-a-vis and the descriptions of every skill. Furthermore would i write something about the playstyle. As a quality of life improvement for new players, so that they see that every class is mirrored on the other side. The pages of the base classes would be for their story, companions and miscellaneous and would remain separated, but the discipline and advanced class pages would be about the playstyle, because they don't impact the story and/or the faction (except forming a group). Shared images[]

Hi. Would you mind if I request shared images from this wiki to Russian SWTOR Wiki ([1])? I am administrator of that wiki. And also, someone created page without contents: Star Wars: Legacy of the Sith. Такос2 23:44, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

Thanks![]
