Figuring Out Loot Tables
This is going to be an extremely lengthy process, I am afraid, but it is already yielding results. My initial test involves farming mobs in the Locust Landing Site, a Heroic mission area in the Republic Resettlement Zone of Taris. All mobs in the area are level 16, and either Strong or Elite in difficulty. I will farm them and record Premium and better item drops until I have obtained a sample population of significant size (200-1000 items). I will then analyze the data and look for correlations.
Start Date June 20, 2012
- Observation: Mobs in the region overwhelmingly drop level 15 items. This appears to be the baseline for item drops at this level. Several examples of item lying outside this level range, however, have already occurred. -- June 21, 2012
- Observation: Item appearance and icon is dependent on intended class; Cerean Pilot's Boots, intended for use by Smugglers and Imperial Agents, utilizes a different model than Gamorrean Pilot's Boots, which is intended for use by Medium Armor-wearing Force users. -- June 21, 2012
