Two Wikis

  • I like the philosophy of wikipedia, having two star wars TOR wikis looks unproductive to me.

One will get more popular and the other will slowly die off, in the meantime people add content that might get lost. Wouldn't it be better to merge the two wikis? Of course we'd need full cooperation of the ones that made/run/own the 2 wikis, I hope one or both are willing to give something up for the greater good.

If needed I can do some merging work. Greets --Fei-Ke 11:23, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

    • There are more wikis then two for TOR and merging all them are not a good idea. You are right, some will die, some will live forever. But merging them to one does not means it will live foreever. Because actualy, wiki or a normal site, its not important for users, they just looking for information, and till we keep the site with good information and with a clean interface, this site will not die. We will always have many users, like now. --callawey 19:17, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
      • You have many users now, but what happens when the game is released? 1000's more users... will your servers be able to take the strain? do you even have your own servers? You can not say with clear confidence that this one will not die as you do not know that it won't, The swtor wiki on the Wikia network has the clear advantage of being able to take the stress of any number of users, being on the same network as all the other major Wikia, like Wookiepedia and the World of Warcraft wiki. It may be a pointless question since you seem very unwilling for any sort of merger but if you were to ever reconsider we can make you admin, if you agree to it, over on swtor.wikia.com. • I have a road plan for the wiki, i am a software developer and i know too about the servers and strains. When the time comes, of course, i will move on a better server with a better connection. It will handle all the stress of any number of users. In other hand, yes you are right, we dont know which one will die and maybe none of them will die, but if i accept to merge the sites, i ill lose everything and i will only get a admin title, which seems pointless to me. In other hand, this wiki gets 4 offer with a great price since two months, i refused them too. So merging for free seems much more pointless. For now, merging is not a option for me. But if wikia wants to much this, we can talk about everything for any help for both sites, except merging. You can contact me via yelekin (at) gmail.com. You can ask me everything on the email. callawey 05:51, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
