Crown Prince Gaul Panteer served as Alderaan's representative to the Galactic Senate during the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant. Heir to the Alderaanian throne, Panteer disapproved of the Treaty, and in response to its signing he announced the secession of his planet from the Republic. Several years later the Crown Prince was assassinated, followed in death shortly thereafter by Alderaan's queen. These events ultimately sparked a bloody civil war as rival noble houses battled for control of the planet.[1][2]
